Calling on Our Quilting Community for Quilt Donations

Photos are just a few Before and After images of Chimney Rock, NC. (Images from nypost.com)

As you know, there is a great need in the Appalachian area for disaster relief.  We have found a way to get supplies to the area and will be collecting quilts and pillowcases to send.

You can drop any quilt/pillowcase donations off at Wasted Women (they meet on 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month at Highland Presbyterian Church, 10024 Highland Road, Baton Rouge) or contact any one of our board members and we will have someone pick them up.

Please consider donating quilts and/or pillowcases for this effort.  We are in October now and the disaster area will start having cold weather and quilts would be a needed necessity.  Quilts are such a great comfort as well as a source of warmth.

We will accept any kind of finished quilts (fleece, rag, tied, etc.) new or slightly used at this time.  We will also collect pillowcases if you’d like to make those.  Wasted Women has fabric that you can get to make quilts or pillowcases.

Another thing to note is that the Wasted Women Bee has numerous quilt tops with backing that is ready for quilting.  If you would like to quilt one or some of these to be donated please come by Wasted Women or contact Laura Landry or Sherry Herringshaw and we can arrange to get something to you.

Monetary donations would also be very appreciated for the purchase of backing and batting for finishing the quilts to donate. These donations can be made through our Donate page (just specify when making the donation that it is for backing/batting).

Please pass this along to your respective quilt guilds.
